In the 14 months since we opened our doors, 36 Degrees North has experienced immense growth. Our community partners have rallied behind us every step of the way, and for that, we are forever grateful.
However, as we grew, we realized we needed more internal manpower to oversee the day-to-day operations of the space. We needed someone who was task-oriented and could get sh*t done, while at the same time making our members feel comfortable and cared for.
After an extensive search and interview process, we realized that the best candidate for that role was actually already a part of our team.
Sarah McKelvey started her journey at 36°N in May 2016 as one of our first summer interns. She stepped up to the plate in that role, doing everything from planning the logistics of member events to writing blog posts and designing Snapchat filters.
Sarah then continued her work at 36°N in the fall by becoming one of our community support associates (these are the bright, shining faces that sit at our front desk). In that position, she learned the ins-and-outs of the operations of our space, from our technology to our ordering processes. She also built relationships with our members and grew to understand each one’s unique needs.
Because of her experience, and her desire to make our coworking facility even better, moving Sarah into the logistics coordinator role was a clear and natural fit. We’re excited to see how she continues to grow and thrive in her new position.
Please join us in welcoming Sarah McKelvey the 36°N full-time family!!

What’s your most memorable 36°N moment?
Events have always been one of my favorite parts about 36°N, so one of the first things that comes to mind was an event from my internship last summer. We had a four part series targeted towards students interning in Tulsa over the summer with the goal of showing them Tulsa is a great place to live and work post-grad. One particular event had the theme of food in Tulsa. We got to bring in some great companies from K66, hear from chefs and owners of some of the best restaurants in town, and create a guide to "cheap eats" around the city for each day of the week. I loved watching so many different people come together to create a successful event. I also loved our first birthday party where our community got to see the great influence 36 Degrees North had in Tulsa in just its first year.
What song would you sing at Karaoke Night?
I would never sing a song at Karaoke Night. Nice try.
What are three things you would take with you on a deserted island and why?
A hammock to relax in, an espresso machine so I can make an iced vanilla latte, and a really nice boat to get off the island when I decide I've had enough.
At which store would you want to max-out your credit card?
Why would I max out my credit card? That's not financially responsible! Although, I do enjoy a quality find from J Crew, Madewell or a good hole in the wall boutique.

Problem solving, a strong personality and overwhelming kindness
