We are so excited to start the summer off with a new addition to the 36 Degrees North team! Rachel Brown just joined our staff as a community associate. She will serve 36°N by greeting members and guests and connecting them with the resources they need day-to-day in our space.
When you see Rachel up front, make sure to give her a warm welcome or high-five as you pass by. Till then, learn more about her below…
Where are you from and how did you end up in Tulsa?
Chicago! Studying Molecular Biology at ORU was the draw to the south. Do you consider Tulsa the south? As a Chicagoan, I do. I might get some clap back for that one. Let's talk about it.
What are your favorite things to do in your free time?
Reading Shakespeare, photography, movie watching, and cooking! I can make a mean spaghetti dinner.
Favorite local restaurants?
Topeca Coffee, Yokozuna, Laffa, and the Panera in Tulsa Hills (lol).
If you were to start your own business, what would it be and why?
A popcorn pop-up shop complete with kettle corn and caramel corn! I’m imagining a very Willy Wonka-esque store front with fresh popped corn every hour. Probably a boba bar in there, too! Tables and chairs enough to seat so many friends. Lots of room, lots of fun, lots of popcorn.
Favorite memory of 2019 so far?
Running through Redwood National Park with some friends over spring break!
What song would you sing at Karaoke night?
Oh my goodness, easy: What Do You Mean by Justin Bieber. I could sing it in my sleep.
If you could splurge a whole paycheck on any store, which store would it be?
Any thrift store!
What are three things you would take with you on a deserted island and why?
S'mores supplies. Not practical but delicious. Oh and all 7 seasons of New Girl. That's more than three things but YOLO.
What characteristics do you most admire in others?
Friendliness, generosity, and consistency.
